Kaiser Permanente began an intense advertising campaign to reinforce their reputation for quality health care and to counter an undeserved perception that Kaiser doctors were somehow not as knowledgeable or well-trained as private practice physicians.

The extensive newspaper ad campaign focused on individual doctors and their personal history; medical degree, years of experience, qualifications, and service to patients.
